As winter approaches, a distinct chill settles in the air. Our daily routines change with the morning mist, the warmth of a quilt, and the steam of tea. Home heaters are lit, children head to school in sweaters and socks, and the aroma of peanuts and corn fills the city streets. This season brings with it many beauties—but hidden within it is a truth that chills the heart.
Because this winter’s chill is a comfort for some, a punishment for others.
When the night temperature plummets, a mother in a remote village or a corner of the city tries to keep her child warm by wrapping him in her old shawl. An elderly man sits near a dim fire, trying to escape the cold that has accumulated in his wrinkles, and a laborer tosses and turns all night in his torn sheet. For them, the cold winds are not just a weather condition but a challenge—a challenge to survival.
Many times, we have seen shivering faces on the sidewalks, at bus stops, or in slums. They have no woolen clothes, no quilts, and no warm beds. In such a situation, winter brings them pain, not comfort.
For the past several years, the Narayan Seva Sansthan has been fulfilling its commitment to providing warmth during these chilling nights. This time, under the “Sookoon Bhari Sardi” service project, the organization has set out with the goal of distributing 50,000 sweaters and 50,000 blankets to the needy. This is not just a clothing distribution but a response to humanity’s call. This is a message of relief for those helpless, homeless, and poor families who somehow survive every cold night.
The organization’s teams are providing this service, reaching villages, cities, and even slums. Every time a warm blanket reaches someone’s shivering hands, the comforting smile that blossoms on their faces is the true spirit of this service project.
The cold weather is often cruel to children. Many innocent children are forced to go to school without sweaters, caps, or shoes. It is also seen that they often miss school due to the cold. Narayan Seva Sansthan has launched a special initiative for these little children—a distribution campaign of sweaters, woolen caps, and shoes and socks, called “Winter Seva“.
This not only provides relief from the cold to children but also ensures their studies continue uninterrupted. A warm sweater provides more than just clothing for these little hearts but also hope for a step forward on the path to education.
When a donor gives a blanket or sweater to someone in need, they provide not just clothing but also respect. This service lets them know they are not alone in this world; someone cares. Every year, thousands of people join this service project; these small efforts ignite a huge flame of warmth on cold nights, helping to bring about a significant change in the lives of the poor and needy.
Like every year, this time too, Narayan Seva Sansthan is inviting you to be a part of this service journey. Your small donation for winter—a sweater or a blanket—can be a lifeline for someone. No matter how harsh the winter, if the flame of compassion continues to burn in your heart, every chill can disappear.
Let us all come together this winter to create a “cozy” winter—where we share the blanket of sleep and the dignity of life with everyone in need.
