Chaitra Navratri is a festival of devotion to Goddess Amba, as well as a festival of restraint and meditation. Worship and chanting performed during these days are considered manifoldly fruitful.

Ghatsthapana Muhurat

The first day of the Navratri festival is crucial for Ghatasthapana, or the installation of the Kalash. This marks the beginning of the nine-day puja. This year, the auspicious time for Ghatasthapana will be from 6:52 am to 7:43 am.

Additionally, the Kalash can also be installed during the Abhijit Muhurta in the afternoon, from 12:05 pm to 12:53 pm. According to scriptures, a Kalash installed properly during this auspicious time brings happiness, prosperity, and spiritual energy to the home.

Chaitra Navratri Pooja Vidhi

• On the first day of Navratri, wake up in the Brahma Muhurta, bathe, and wear clean clothes. Purify the place of worship with Ganga water and spread a red cloth. After this, install the idol or picture of Goddess Durga.

• Now, fill an earthen pot with clean soil and sow barley in it. This barley is considered a symbol of prosperity and progress. Then, fill a copper or clay pot with water and add betel nut, a coin, and unbroken rice grains. Place mango leaves on the mouth of the pot and place a coconut wrapped in a red cloth.

• Place this pot near the goddess’s seat. After this, light an eternal flame, which should burn continuously for nine days. If an eternal flame is not possible, then light a lamp every day during worship.

• During worship, chant the mantra “Om Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundaye Vichche” with devotion. Also, recite the Durga Saptashati and conclude the puja with an aarti.

Spiritual Significance of Durga Saptashati

Reciting the Durga Saptashati is considered the best way to receive the blessings of Goddess Amba. This recitation enhances mental strength and protects against fear, obstacles, and negative energy. Regular recitation increases self-confidence and removes enemy obstacles.

It is believed that this recitation protects against diseases and brings peace to the mind. A devotee who recites it with devotion and faith will surely experience positive changes in their life.
