Yogini Ekadashi holds special significance in Sanatan Dharma. This holy Ekadashi, falling during the dark fortnight (Krishna Paksha) of the Ashadha month, is considered a day that destroys all sins and grants Moksha (liberation). According to the Brahmavaivarta Purana, observing the fast of Yogini Ekadashi yields merit equivalent to feeding eighty-eight thousand Brahmins. This day is deemed highly auspicious for worshipping Lord Shri Hari Vishnu, performing acts of charity, and engaging in service.

Observing the Yogini Ekadashi fast purifies a person physically, mentally, and spiritually. Remembering the name of Lord Vishnu, fasting, chanting, performing penance, and serving the needy on this day brings happiness, prosperity, and divine grace into one’s life.

Spiritual Significance of Yogini Ekadashi

According to ancient scriptures, Yogini Ekadashi is regarded as the Ekadashi that alleviates all forms of sins and suffering. Observing the fast and worshipping Lord Vishnu with devotion on this day liberates a person from sins and infuses their life with positive energy. This day offers a divine opportunity to draw closer to the Lord through self-purification and devotion.

Scriptures state that the merit earned on Yogini Ekadashi uplifts a person from worldly sorrows and guides them along the path of spiritual progress. Therefore, acts of charity, service, and benevolence hold special importance on this day.

Highlighting the importance of charity, religious texts state:

Daanen bhoutani vashi bhavanti daanen vairanyapi yanti nasham
Paropi bandhutvamupaiti danair daanam hi sarvavyasanani hanti

Meaning: Through charity, all beings are pleased, enmity is dispelled, and even a stranger becomes one’s own. Charity possesses the power to eliminate many of a person’s crises and flaws.
