In Sanatan Dharma, Parama Ekadashi holds special significance. This sacred occasion comes once every three years during the beloved Purushottam Maas, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Devoted to Shri Hari Vishnu, this Ekadashi inspires people to purify their lives through devotion, penance, service, and charity.

According to Hindu scriptures, the word “Parama” means “supreme” and “bestowing ultimate welfare.” It is believed that observing fasts, prayers, chanting, and charity with devotion on this day brings immense spiritual merit and helps remove many difficulties from life. This Ekadashi purifies the mind, speech, and actions, guiding devotees toward the path of righteousness and salvation.

Importance of Parama Ekadashi

Religious beliefs consider the Parama Ekadashi fast as one of the best ways to receive the special blessings of Lord Vishnu. Worshipping Shri Hari and donating to the poor, helpless, and needy on this sacred day is believed to bring happiness, peace, and prosperity to the family.

It is said that devotees who sincerely observe fasting and charity on this day experience positive energy in their lives and attain spiritual merit. Parama Ekadashi is also an opportunity to awaken self-discipline, purity, and the spirit of service.

The scriptures describe charity and service as among the greatest virtuous deeds. The Skanda Purana states:

न्यायोपार्जितवित्तस्य दशमांशेन धीमतः।

कर्तव्यो विनियोगश्च ईश्वरप्रीत्यर्थमेव च॥

“A wise person should dedicate a portion of their honestly earned wealth for the pleasure of God and the welfare of society.”
