Shravan Maas… that divine period when the entire creation immerses itself in devotion to Lord Shiva. This month is not only a time for fasting, worship, and Rudrabhishek but also a symbol of service, compassion, and charity. Every auspicious deed performed during this month yields manifold results. Lord Shiva, known as “Ashutosh,” is pleased by even the smallest efforts of His devotees and bestows upon them boundless blessings.
It is very easy to please Lord Shiva. He is Bholenath. He becomes pleased with the mere sentiments of his devotees. Shiva is very fond of water, Belpatra, Bhasm and Rudraksha. Take a bath every morning and offer water to the Shivling, chant the mantra “Om Namah Shivaya” and pray with a true heart.
Keep a fast on Mondays in the month of Shravan, recite Shiv Chalisa and stay away from negative thoughts. Also, make an earthen Shivling or get it made by a Pandit. It is said that the fear of untimely death goes away from the life of a devotee who worships the earthen Shivling and the blessings of Lord Shiva always remain on him.
Every pious deed performed in the month of Shravan yields many times more results. Especially when you feed a hungry, downtrodden, helpless child, it fills your soul with peace and satisfaction.
Lord Shiva himself is the symbol of compassion and kindness. He is Bholenath; he loves even a small service done with devotion. If you are true in your devotion to Shiva, then feeding a downtrodden, helpless person makes your devotion complete. This is such a virtue, which makes you eligible for Shiva’s grace and poverty, sorrow and crisis start going away from your life.
On this holy occasion of Shravan month, get the blessings of Lord Shiva by feeding needy children and make your life blessed.
