What is Shradh Paksha?

Shradh Paksha, also known as Pitru Paksha or Mahalaya, is a holy period dedicated to paying homage to ancestors and departed loved ones. The ritualistic offerings, donations, etc. done during this holy period are called Shradh. We have been born on this earth because of our ancestors, so it is our duty to pray for the peace of their souls.

Along with Shradh Paksha, Sarva Pitru Amavasya is also considered very important; this day is the day of offering tarpan to known and unknown ancestors. On this day, people bathe in holy rivers, offer tarpan to their ancestors, feed Brahmins and poor, needy people and pray to Lord Vishnu, the savior of this world, for the salvation of their ancestors.

Shradh Tithi Tarpan

In the holy Pitru Paksha, Gaya Ji has been described in the scriptures as the best pilgrimage for the salvation of ancestors. Narayan Seva Sansthan is making arrangements for Shraddha Tithi Tarpan for the devotees on this holy land. It is described in the Vedas and Puranas that by performing Tarpan on Shraddha Tithi in a proper manner, the soul of the ancestors attains peace, satisfaction and divine world.

Satisfied with the Tarpan, the ancestors bless their progeny and happiness and prosperity resides in the home and family. On this holy occasion, perform Tarpan of your ancestors on Shraddha Tithi with devotion and offer them water, food and Tarpan.

Brahmin and Deen-Dukhijan Bhojan

Feeding Brahmins and the downtrodden on the occasion of Shraddha Karma on the holy land of Gaya is considered a great virtuous deed. It is mentioned in the scriptures that feeding Brahmins with respect and with a pure heart and donating food to the downtrodden satisfies the souls of the ancestors.

This is a live expression of faith and religion. Offer satisfying food to Brahmins and the downtrodden in Gaya and pray for the salvation of your ancestors.

Bhagwat Original Path

On the holy occasion of Pitru Paksha, Narayan Seva Sansthan is going to organize a seven-day long Shreemad Bhagavat Mool Paath at the Tapobhoomi of Gaya Ji. It is mentioned in the scriptures that the children who participate in this pious work for the salvation of their ancestors, get freed from the debt of their ancestors and receive the blessings of God.

Get the Shreemad Bhagavat Paath done with devotion for the peace of the souls of your ancestors and for salvation and gain the benefits of virtue.

Essence of Shradh

Shraadh is a divine ritual to get free from Pitra debt and express gratitude towards ancestors. The sacred fifteen days of Shraadh Paksha are considered to be the time when the doors of Pitriloka open. During this period, by offering water, food and dakshina to ancestors through Tarpan, Pinddaan and food donation, etc., they become satisfied and bless their children with unbroken happiness, prosperity and long life. This holy time of Shraadh is a holy journey connecting the soul with religion, tradition and spirituality. During this period, people complete their life journey not only for themselves but also with the blessings of their lineage and all ancestors.

Satisfaction of ancestors will open the door to salvation

Narayan Seva Sansthan is providing the holy opportunity to the devotees to participate in the Shraadh Tithi Tarpan, Brahmin Food Service and Sapta-Dwisa Shrimad Bhagwat Mool Paath organized in Gaya Ji on this Shraadh Paksha. Participate with faith and devotion for the peace of the souls of your ancestors in this holy period and get the blessings of a happy life by getting free from the debt of ancestors.

During the sacred Shraadh Paksha, a rare celestial alignment is set to occur with a lunar eclipse on September 7 and a solar eclipse on September 22. According to scriptures, acts of giving and donation during this time are believed to be exceptionally fruitful, bringing blessings to generations. This auspicious coincidence is considered a powerful opportunity for spiritual devotion and selfless giving.
