How do I help needy children in India?

Following China, India is the second most populated country in the world. However, being a country of over 130 crore people, it does face a huge problem of poverty.

While India’s weaker sections face a lot of challenges due to poverty, study suggests that children and women are most affected by it. A joint report of UNICEF and International labour organisation (ILO) in 2019 have estimated that around 30% of extremely poor children in the world reside in India.

To uplift these underprivileged children, various government schemes have been established and several charity donations have been done. Every year, millions of donors donate to charities in India that support child welfare. Even foreign donors from all around the world have come forward to donate for India and their charities.

However, despite this, the country still has a long way ahead to accomplish their goal of eradicating child poverty. In order to attain this goal sooner, more and more people should put in their effort and contribution in helping the underprivileged children.

Here are some of the ways through which one can help the needy children in India-

Monetary Donations

In India, charity donation is a very common phenomenon that has been existing since ages and at present, there are millions of charities in the world that accept such donations to support causes like child welfare.

Hence, donating to a charity in India that works towards helping and supporting underprivileged children can one be a good way of helping the needy.

Moreover, as a donor, you can even be subjected to tax benefits if you donate to charity that is registered under section 80G. An example of such charitable trust is Narayan Seva Sansthan.

In kind donations

Apart from monetary donations, you can also consider donating resources like books or clothes to help the underprivileged children.

India is a country where one fourth of the population suffer from lack of education. These majorly include underprivileged children and adults. Hence, if not donations, teaching and sharing your knowledge with these children could be a great way of helping them.

Collection drives and fundraising events

Through collection drives and fundraising events, you can collect enough resources or funds for donation to the underprivileged children.

Spreading awareness through social media platforms

As an individual, a great way of helping the underprivileged children of the country is by sharing their struggles, stories, and so on to millions of people through social media platforms. This will encourage more people to donate and help the underprivileged children of the country.
