In Sanatan Dharma, Ekadashi is considered the best means of liberation from sins and accumulation of virtues. Among these sacred dates, Vijaya Ekadashi holds a highly virtuous and beneficial status. This Ekadashi falls in the Krishna Paksha of the month of Phalgun and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Religious belief holds that fasting, chanting, austerity, and service performed with devotion on this day removes all obstacles in a person’s life and paves the way for victory.

The Importance of Vijaya Ekadashi

The Vijaya Ekadashi fast is considered to bestow victory, success, and salvation in life. According to scriptures, the virtue of this Ekadashi frees the devotee from enemies, obstacles, fears, and sins, and bestows success in every endeavor. It is mentioned in mythology that even Lord Rama, the Supreme Being, observed the Vijaya Ekadashi fast before conquering Lanka. It was due to the influence of this fast that he was fortunate enough to defeat Ravana and establish Dharma.

This Ekadashi not only bestows worldly victory but also paves the way for spiritual upliftment and liberation from the cycle of birth and death.

Spiritual Significance of Charity and Service

Ekadashi is not limited to fasting; it is a festival that inspires service, compassion, and philanthropy. The scriptures state that donating food, clothing, and food on Ekadashi bestows eternal merit. In particular, feeding the needy, helpless, and disabled is considered equivalent to true worship of Lord Vishnu.

In the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna says:

Yagya-danam-tapashkarma-na-tyajyam-karyameva-tat.

Yagya-danam-tapashchaiva-paavanani-manishinaam.

That is, one should never abandon yagya, charity, and austerity, as these actions make one pure and virtuous.

The Virtue of Serving Food on Vijaya Ekadashi

On this auspicious occasion of Vijaya Ekadashi, you can participate in this virtuous service by feeding the poor, helpless, and disabled children through the Narayan Seva Sansthan. It is believed that feeding the hungry on Ekadashi pleases Lord Hari himself and blesses the donor with fame, prosperity, and victory in life.
