Saphala Ekadashi
On Saphala Ekadashi, by donating, provide lifelong food (once a year) to underprivileged, helpless, and differently-abled children.
Saphala Ekadashi
In Sanatan Dharma, the divine importance of Ekadashi dates is difficult to describe through words. Among them, Saphala Ekadashi falls on the Ekadashi date of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Paush. The Ekadashi fast performed on this day destroys all the sins of the practitioner and makes their life successful and auspicious. Fasting, abstaining, and donating on this day fulfill all desires, and with the blessings of Lord Shri Hari, the path to Moksha is cleared.
Mythological Importance of Saphala Ekadashi
According to the Padma Purana, fasting on this Ekadashi gives the same merit as performing a hundred Ashwamedha Yajnas and a thousand Rajasuya Yajnas. The effect of this fast removes all troubles of the person, and their sins are reduced, purifying the soul. Lord Shri Krishna told Yudhishthira that the person who fasts, abstains, donates, and worships on this day, all their sins are destroyed by Lord Vishnu Himself, and they attain the Supreme Abode.
The Importance of Donation, Service, and Charity
Saphala Ekadashi is not just a day for fasting, chanting, and worship, but also a symbol of charity and service. By donating food and grains to the underprivileged, hungry, helpless, differently-abled, and elderly people on this day, one receives a hundred times more merit. Lord Shri Krishna said in the Bhagavad Gita:
“Yajnadana tapah karma na tyajyam karyameva tat |
Yajno danam tapashchaiva pavanani manishinam ||”
Meaning, Yajna (sacrifice), Daan (donation), and Tap (penance) are not to be abandoned, but should be performed as they purify the seeker.
The Merit of Donation and Service on Saphala Ekadashi
On this auspicious day, become a participant in the lifetime food service project for the differently-abled, orphaned, and needy children of Narayan Seva Sansthan (once a year), and gain the incredible merit of Saphala Ekadashi.
