Margashirsha Amavasya is considered to be a very holy and virtuous date according to the Hindu calendar. On this day, offering tarpan, pinddaan, shraddha, bathing, meditation and donation to ancestors is especially fruitful. Good deeds done on the Amavasya date of this month become an easy means of ancestral grace and God’s grace.
This day is the best for the peace and satisfaction of those departed souls, whose shraddha or tarpan could not be done due to some reason. On this day, the soul is purified by penance, service and donation and peace, balance and happiness are infused in life.
