The months of Margashirsha and Pausha mark the yearly arrival of Malmas, also known as Kharmas. This time, the month of Kharmas begins on 16 December and continues till 14 January 2024. Only religious activities should be performed without any desire during this month; no auspicious work should be initiated. The only ritual that needs to be performed is to worship Lord Vishnu in his physical form early in the morning and devote the entire month to doing so.

In Malmas, there is a process of charity, helping others, and giving essential things to the poor. Those who revere the cow and help the less fortunate during Malmas are blessed by Supreme Krishna. Donating food, clothes, and Shrimad Bhagwat Katha Granth with a clean mind and pure heart has special significance. This increases the level of happiness and prosperity in the house and paves the way for many types of successes in the future.

Significance of MALMAS

Kharmas appears twice a year, the first Kharmas occurs when the Sun enters Sagittarius, and the second Kharmas occurs when the Sun transits into Pisces. The sun changes its zodiac every month.Sun’s transit in a zodiac sign is called Sankranti. In the last month of the year, in December, Sun will transit and enter Sagittarius. This is called Dhanu Sankranti. Kharmas or Malmas starts from this day. After the end of Malmas, the Sun enters Capricorn, which is called Makar Sankranti.

It is believed that there is a special importance in worshiping the Sun during Malmas. Therefore, if it is visible in someone’s horoscope that their Sun is in a problematic position, then they must do Surya Puja. During this, great works like Mahadharma, charity-Dakshina, and chanting can also be done, it gives auspicious results.
