In Sanatan Dharma, Ekadashi is considered a very sacred and auspicious occasion to receive the blessings of Lord Hari. Among these divine dates, Kamada Ekadashi holds special significance. This Ekadashi falls during the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of the month of Chaitra and, according to religious scriptures, is believed to destroy all sins and fulfill desires.
Religious belief holds that fasting, chanting, austerity, and charity observed with devotion and faith on this day instill purity and positivity in a person’s life. The Kamada Ekadashi fast leads the seeker towards spiritual progress.
The Importance of Kamada Ekadashi
The scriptures state that the Kamada Ekadashi fast destroys all sins and bestows desired results. On this day, worshiping Lord Shri Hari Vishnu, offering Tulsi Dal, donating lamps and chanting mantras are considered very auspicious.
Devotees who chant Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya mantra with true feelings and donate on this day have negativity removed from their lives, and by the grace of Lord Shri Hari, a feeling of peace and contentment arises in their minds.
Importance of Donation
On the day of Kamada Ekadashi, charity and service have been said to be especially virtuous. True devotion is to feed the hungry, help the helpless and have compassion towards the needy. When a man serves selflessly, his heart becomes humble and pure.
In Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta, Lord Shri Krishna while explaining the importance of charity to Arjuna, says,
Yajnadantapahkarma na tyajyam karyameva tat.
Yajno danam tapaschaiva pavanani manishinaam.
That is, the acts of yagya, charity, and penance are not to be abandoned but must be performed because all three acts purify a person.
A Virtuous Opportunity to Serve on Kamada Ekadashi
On this auspicious occasion of Kamada Ekadashi, participate in the service project of feeding needy, destitute, and specially abled children through Narayan Seva Sansthan. It is said that by feeding the hungry and helping the needy on this day, Lord Vishnu himself becomes pleased and blesses them with prosperity and spiritual progress.
