In Sanatan Dharma, Ekadashi is considered the best occasion for self-purification and the blessings of Lord Hari. Among these sacred dates, Amalaki Ekadashi holds special significance. This Ekadashi falls during the Shukla Paksha of the month of Phalgun and is dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu as well as the Amla (Amalaki) tree.
Religious belief holds that fasting, chanting, penance, and charity observed with devotion on this day paves the way for happiness, prosperity, health, and spiritual progress in the life of the devotee.
The Significance of Amalaki Ekadashi
The scriptures state that observing the fast on Amalaki Ekadashi destroys a person’s sins and bestows eternal virtue. The Amla tree is considered a favorite of Lord Vishnu. On this day, worshiping the Amla tree, circumambulating it and remembering God under it is said to be particularly fruitful. This fast is considered to provide health, longevity and freedom from all troubles.
Spiritual importance of charity and service
Amalaki Ekadashi also gives the message of service and compassion. It is said in the scriptures that Lord Shri Hari becomes extremely pleased by donating food on this day. Especially helping the needy, poor and disabled people is considered a symbol of true devotion.
Lord Shri Krishna says in Srimad Bhagavad Gita-
Yajnadantapahkarma na tyajyam karyameva tat.
Yajno danam tapaschaiva pavanani manishinaam.
Yagya, charity and penance are not worthy of renunciation, but they are definitely worth doing; Because yagya, charity and penance; These three actions purify the wise (manishis).
A Virtuous Opportunity to Serve on Amalaki Ekadashi
On this auspicious occasion of Amalaki Ekadashi, participate in this virtuous act by feeding the poor, needy, and differently abled children through the Narayan Seva Sansthan. It is believed that by feeding the hungry and helping the needy on this day, Lord Vishnu himself becomes pleased and blesses them with health, prosperity, and spiritual progress.
On this holy Ekadashi, bless your life through devotion, service, and charity.
