The problem of poverty has been existing in India since the last few decades. Even though over the years, the poverty rate has declined significantly in India, the country still has to put in a lot of effort to eradicate this issue from the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the recently released Multidimensional Poverty Index report of 2022, India’s percentage in poverty has fallen from 55.1% in 2005- 2006 to 16.4% in 2019- 2021.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, despite these figures, India is still the country with the largest number of poor people (around 22.8 crore people are poor) in the South Asian region. Apart from this, the Multidimensional poverty index report did not include post pandemic details, hence, there is a high chance that the country’s poverty rate must have increased due to many people losing their source of incomes or jobs amidst the pandemic.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In order to completely eradicate the problem of poverty from the country. The government as well as people of the country should come together and support those who are in need of help.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Over the years, the government has come up with some great initiatives and plans to uplift the weaker sections of the society. Apart from them, NGOs and other charitable organizations have put forth some commendable efforts to reach out to the underprivileged people and help them in every possible way.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As an individual, there are so many ways in which one can contribute to poverty reduction. Some of them are –<\/span><\/p>\n
