Recently, the report of World poverty clock (2022) stated that India has surpassed Nigeria with 83 million people living in extreme poverty, which accounts for about 6% of the country’s population. The data was recorded while taking into account the recent hit that countries took due to the Covid 19 situation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With the signing of Agenda 2030 in 2015, India showcased its support in eradicating poverty and since the past few years, it has taken commendable actions regarding it through their various government schemes, funds and programs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Apart from the government, many non-governmental organisations have also extended their help in uplifting the weaker sections of the society.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, without the public’s support, the aim of removal of poverty from India till 2030 might not be possible. Hence, as an individual, we can try to contribute a little to the underprivileged.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here are some of the ways through which one can contribute to their country in the removal of poverty –<\/span><\/p>\n

Money donation to NGOs and funds\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

Money donations<\/b> are one of the most common ways through which many donors try to help the weaker sections of the society. In India, millions of donors donate their money for various purposes like religious, political, charities or funds and so on.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, among these, donating to charitable trust and NGO not just marks your contribution towards helping someone but may also provide you with tax benefits under Section 80G, provided you have donated to an 80G certified trust or fund.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hence, you can support NGOs like Women empowering <\/span>NGOs, poor child’s education <\/b>NGOs or funds like the Prime Minister’s National relief fund and so on by donating whatever amount you wish to give.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nowadays, the procedure of money donations has become a lot easier due to technology. There are many <\/span>NGO websites in India<\/b> that accept funds online. <\/span>Narayan Seva Sansthan <\/b>is an example of this.<\/span><\/p>\n

The sansthan is globally recognised for their noble work towards uplifting specially abled and other weaker sections of the society. They provide several offerings and sevas where a donor can donate any amount they wish for. Some of their offerings include mass weddings of underprivileged and specially abled, treatment of polio patients, corrective surgeries for Divyangs, quality education for underprivileged children and so on.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In kind donations and collection drives\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

Money is not the only thing that you can donate for helping the poor. In kind donations like donating toys, clothes, books, and other such resources can help them a lot too.<\/span><\/p>\n

You can even hold collection drives in your school, college or any other place to collect resources from people that you can either personally hand out to the underprivileged or donate to the charity.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Volunteering\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

If you personally want to experience helping the poor, volunteering can be a good option for you to consider. By becoming a <\/span>volunteer in NGO<\/b> one can be given activities like teaching, distributing resources to the needy and so on which can provide you the immense satisfaction of helping someone.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Fundraising events\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

Nowadays, fundraising events, especially crowdfunding, are gaining a lot of popularity in India. There are many platforms and events where one can participate to raise funds. With your friends and family, even if each contributes a little, you can still donate a huge amount together, as a group, to the underprivileged.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Teaching or tutoring the underprivileged\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

In India, one in every four Indians does not have access to basic education. The government of the country has tried to help the poor in attaining education through their schools, programs and schemes, however, still half of the underprivileged students either drop out or are not able to cope up with the academic curriculum.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hence, for helping these people, knowledge could be the biggest donation that you can provide them with. You can take the initiative of teaching these underprivileged people in your free time.
