This day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, a great scholar and source of inspiration for countless youth, who is known for his thoughts, ideals and inspirational personality. This day is an important occasion to inspire the youth and bring positive change in their lives.

Swami Vivekananda always recognized the power of the youth and inspired them to find the purpose of their life. He had said, “Arise, awake and do not stop till the goal is achieved.” These words of his still fill the life of every youth with new energy and courage.

Vivekananda believed that the youth have the power to change the country. He believed that if the youth recognize the strength within themselves, they will be able to do every task in the world.

Role of youth in nation building

India is a young country, where more than 65 percent of the population is below 35 years of age. This youth power is the basis of the country’s development. If the youth channelize their thoughts and actions in the right direction, India can progress in every field.

National Youth Day reminds us that every youth has immense potential hidden in them. Today’s youth are responsible not only for their future, but also for the country and society.

How to become an inspirational youth?

Set your goals: It is important to have a clear purpose in life. Work hard and patiently to achieve the goal.

Take care of health: Taking care of both physical and mental health is the key to success.

Learn new skills: Always be ready to enhance your knowledge and skills. This will take you forward not only in personal but also in professional life.

Work for the society: Helping others gives self-satisfaction. Try to improve the lives of people around you.

A day of new beginnings

National Youth Day is a day of new beginnings for the youth. On this day, the youth should recognize the energy inside them and move forward by making a strategy to realize their dreams.

All the youth of the country should celebrate this day with the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and take a pledge to work continuously to make our country even more glorious.

Brief introduction of Swami Vivekananda

Swami Vivekananda was a great saint, thinker and inspiring personality. He was born on 12 January 1863 in Kolkata. His real name was Narendranath Dutt. Since childhood, he was attracted towards spirituality and knowledge. As a disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahansa, he studied Indian culture and Vedanta in depth.

His impressive speech at the World Religion Conference held in Chicago in 1893 made India proud on the world stage. He gave the message of self-reliance, patriotism and positive thinking to the youth.

Swami Vivekananda founded the Ramakrishna Mission in 1897. He passed away on 4 July 1902 at the age of 39.

Swami Vivekananda’s precious words

First every good thing is made fun of, then opposed and then accepted.

Truth may be stated in a thousand ways, and yet it will remain a truth.

Unless you believe in yourself, you cannot believe in God.

A good character is built only after a thousand setbacks.

The greatest sin is to think of yourself as weak.

We reap what we sow. We are the makers of our own destiny.

Only those have a life who live for others. All others are better dead than alive.

National Youth Day is celebrated every year on 12 January all over India.
