Charity organisations<\/b> are <\/span>non-profit organisations<\/b> that aim to work towards helping society and its individuals. These organisations are also called <\/span>charity foundations<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>charitable donations <\/b>that these organisations receive are used in the welfare of the society on various aspects like health, education, skill development, etc. Apart from that, some <\/span>charity foundations <\/b>also focus on animal and environmental welfare too.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Types of charity organisations<\/b>\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

A charity organisation can be either public\u00a0 or private.<\/span><\/p>\n

Public organisations-<\/b><\/h3>\n

These organisations are established for the benefit of a public or religious group or any other such charitable purpose. There are no specific beneficiaries in this type of organisation and the management of such organisations are handled by a board of trustees.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Private organisations-<\/b><\/h3>\n

These organisations are established for the benefit of single or few individuals. A private trust is often managed by a managing trustee or few appointed trustees.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Different <\/span>charity organisations<\/b> might have different charitable purposes. On the basis of the type of charitable purpose an organisation serves, here are some of the charity organisations –<\/span><\/p>\n

Religious charities<\/b><\/h2>\n

The donations to charities for religious purposes are quite common in India. Be it as ‘daan’ in Hinduism or ‘zakat’ in Islam, the concept of giving is glorified in almost all the religions across the world. Often these religious donations are used for helping the community like feeding or providing shelter to underprivileged people.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Animal charities<\/b><\/h2>\n

These charities majorly focus on animal welfare by providing shelter, treatments and so on to animals. These charities can also focus on the welfare of a single group of animals like NGOs for saving dogs or cats or may particularly work towards saving endangered animals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Environmental charities<\/b><\/h2>\n

Our environment is degrading rapidly and humans are one of the primary causes for it. India is one of the most populated and polluted countries of the world that deals with many environmental issues like waste management, deforestation, water scarcity, and so on. In order to prevent the disastrous effects of environmental degradation, several environment protection agencies and NGOs have been established in the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Education charities<\/b><\/h2>\n

An educated and literate population plays a very important role in the country’s development. According to the National Survey of India report (2022), the country has a literacy rate of 77.7 percent. However, it still indicates that one in every four Indians is deprived of the ability to read and write.<\/span><\/p>\n

To help such people, there are various government schemes set up in India. However, along with that, there are also many <\/span>education NGOs in India <\/b>that<\/span> provide the unprivileged sections of the society with high quality education.<\/span><\/p>\n

Health charities<\/b><\/h2>\n

A healthy population (both physically and mentally) can be a huge push for a nation towards a country’s development. In India, the current life expectancy of a person is 70.19 years. There are various reasons (like malnutrition or unawareness to various health risks and so on) that accounts for such low figures and weak health of the population.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A health charity deals with helping people with health related issues like treating diseases, raising public awareness on certain health risks, and so on.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Art and culture charities<\/b><\/h2>\n

These<\/span> charities help in preserving the artistic and cultural heritage of a country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There are various NGOs that, despite being established in one country, work for other countries. These are termed as international NGOs.<\/span><\/p>\n
